Product Description:

The Cole family at Broughgammon are pretty forward-thinking people. They acquired the 50 Acre farm in 2002 where they built a sustainable home. Next they turned their attention to the farmland itself, their aim to provide LOCAL, SUSTAINABLE and AFFORDABLE food from it.
Today the Coles farm rare-breed Soay Sheep, Pigs and Poultry, but the main commercial element of the farm business is just getting off the ground.
Already a popular meat in Europe and beyond, Cabrito- Kid Goat meat is still a niche market in Northern Ireland. The family introduced the herd in 2011. The hand-reared goats are raised on a mixed diet of milk, haylage and cereals. The result is a delicately flavoured meat, that is lean, tender, low in cholesterol and sweeter alternative to lamb.
During the summer months, the family hand harvests seaweed from the nearby coastal shoreline and prepares it back at the farm. It is sold wholesale to cosmetics and food companies, and can also be found on their farmers’ market stalls.
Over the Winter months , work turns to managing the local deer population, providing seasonal venison, fit for a king!
